I completely and totally love Kristen Wiig.

UPDATE:  mean, she does a strange and interesting thing! Namely: creating “joke” characters out of weird old or middle-aged women who are not famous. Mostly, because of Sexism, such people are not really allowed to be anything but “straight men” (?!) in comedyland. However, it should be said that she might be stealing some of her affectations from Frances McDormand in Burn After Reading.

Haven’t seen the recent stuff, but she’s been doing what you’re describing prior to that movie.
